So it's been awhile... Thursday, November 25, 2010
Life has been really busy, really bizarre, and kind of exhausting for us.
We've been working hard to adjust to our new life with some limitations on my part, Benjamin's (quite demanding) school schedule, and the busy schedules of a family always on the go.
Today, Thanksgiving, and the right around the fourth anniversary of this blog, I had a few minutes to sit down and reflect on some of the things that make us happy.
So, here it goes:
I am thankful for the coolest kid ever. He is thriving in school, healthy, has already made a ton of friends (we had FOUR invitations for playdates on Tuesday...FOUR!), is so kind and helpful around the house. He's obsessed with us having another baby, and has recently realized that he was not in our wedding pictures, and slightly miffed we didn't invite him. He makes us laugh hourly.
Andrew. He is patient and kind, and puts up with my BS even when I know the last thing he wants to deal with is my BS.
Good health: After a summer of not-so great-health, I am finally starting to feel like a human being again for the first time since August. I am far from feeling great, and am exhausted way too much of the time, but I am healthy.
Good health insurance. Probably don't need to say much here, but yeah, insanely thankful for our amazing health insurance.
My job: It took awhile for me to ease back into work. I am grateful for my opportunities still being available to me, despite needing a couple of months off.
Running: I am much slower than I was a couple of years ago, but each weekend's long run is getting stronger and faster, and I am very excited for the upcoming racing season on my calendar.
My friends: You are all over the country, and I don't get to spend nearly enough face to face time with the bulk of you, but I love you all.
My house. I love my house. I love living in the neighborhood we live in. I love the people we've met, and the fun things we get to do because we live here.
Yoga. Who knew? Slowing down and giving myself time to stretch and get into my head has been really, really good for me. Like, really good for me.
All of the new babies! I have so many friends who are pregnant right now, or just had babies. I am so excited for all of your families. I want to snuggle with your baby, and then hand them back and get a full night of sleep!
Multiple-Emily-visits-to-Baltimore. That's all to say about that.
Benjamin's new-found ability to get himself up, find a channel he likes on TV and get himself a snack/breakfast so I can sleep later than, oh you know, 5:30 am. BIG fan of this.
Clearly this list is far from all-inclusive. Oh yeah, I am thankful for the pumpkin pie I am about to eat. After I sing my son's chosen lullaby for the night: YMCA.
