Happy 7 Months Benjamin! Saturday, March 31, 2007
Today is Benjamin's 7 month birthday. We celebrated by watching our cousin Kaileigh play some soccer this morning, a couple of long naps for all, a baby cookie, a dip in the pool (to clean up after the baby cookie), and then dinner out at PF Changs.
Well, dinner was actually to celebrate my grandmother's birthday, which is also today.
Lots of vacation pictures to come...I forgot the cable to pull them off of the camera, so you'll have to wait!
Peace out!

In the Cactus State Friday, March 30, 2007
Not sure if it is officially the Cactus State, but we are in Arizona. Benjamin and I have been here for a couple of days, and Andrew will be here in a couple of hours.
We'll be taking Benjamin swimming, for the first time ever, in a couple of hours!!
Later!

Dishes and Laundry Sunday, March 25, 2007
I have been a total slacker on both laundry and dishes lately...thus my son eating from a pink bowl, with a pink spoon, in a pink bib.
Benjamin doesn't seem to mind!

Still Busy Friday, March 23, 2007
Updates have been few and far between lately...we had friends in town this past weekend, my best friends (sans one) from growing up came out to meet Benjamin and hang out. The weather was awesome, and we laid pretty low, but had a really nice time.
Benjamin and I have been spending tons of time outdoors; it's great! It's been in the 60s most days here. We put a blanket out in the front yard, drag some toys out, and play away. The neighbors usually stop by to chat. Benjamin starts laughing as soon as we open the front door; he knows what is coming!
I am still working out with my trainer. I've actually just signed up for another round of sessions, which should get me through until the move and I have to find a new gym to work out at. Hopefully, I will have the motivation to not need a trainer by then.
This is kind of old news, but Benjamin has 2 teeth. Other than my totally irrational fear that his top teeth would appear first, we all survived it pretty painlessly. He fussed a bit the days that they broke through, but life, as we know it, went on. He refuses to let us get a good look at them, let alone a photo...so you'll have to wait for that one.
Andrew's sister is coming tomorrow night, for a few days of visit on her spring break. We are having a barbeque on Sunday afternoon, mostly with Andrew's colleagues and their families.
Hope it's starting to get spring-like where you are...I feel like a new person after survivng this snowy, cold winter!

I heart Colorado (for now)! Tuesday, March 13, 2007
Normally, I tend to complain about it here. A lot. BUT, today, it was 70 and sunny, all afternoon. We jogged to the gym this morning, I worked out with my trainer, and then we jog/walked home. Later, I took Benjamin's jumperoo outside, and he played in that for a little while. After that, we brought a blanket and some toys to the front yard, and spent over an hour enjoying the great weather. Andrew came home aroung 5, the next door neighbors came over and chatted, and it was just an all around nice afternoon. Earlier in the day, Benjamin and I went to Qdoba for a late lunch. Love the naked steak burrito; and it tasted even better eating it out in the sunshine!
Can you tell that I like nice weather?
This will be of special interest to those of you in the process of packing your bags for the fun weekend ahead:
Woohoo!

Keeping Busy Sunday, March 11, 2007
Things here have been good, but busy. I am still loving my twice-weekly appointments with my trainer, and trying hard to do (at least) cardio on my days off. It's helped that the weather has been in the mid-fifties for most of the last week. Days like today, when the sun is out, make me want to be outside all the time!
Rumor has it, it could get close to 70 degrees tomorrow...I hope that's true!
Benjamin's sleep has greatly improved lately. I don't think I have complained about it to too many people, but we've had a couple of REALLY rough months. A good night was when he got up less than five or six times...yeah, that bad. Anyhow, we were discussing our options the other night, and "cry it out" came up. I wasn't emotionally ready for it, so I committed to doing the night shift myself until I was...Sure enough, Benjamin got up only ONCE that night. And once the next...we've had four good nights now; hopefully tonight will be the fifth. Naps are 100% in the crib now, and starting to resemble a schedule. I am so much happier now that I've had a couple of 4+ hour stretches of sleep.
We have a ton of upcoming fun things on our agenda. This coming weekend, my best friends from childhood are all flying out here to meet Benjamin, and hopefully, partially, to hang out with me. The following weekend, my sister-in-law will be visiting for a few days. This will be her first time meeting Benjamin, too! The day that Kathryn leaves, Benjamin and I are flying to Arizona to visit family there. Andrew will join us for the weekend, and we'll all come home that following Monday.
After that, Andrew's parents will be passing through town, and then I am hosting a baby shower the following weekend. That puts us into mid-April!
Since this was a wordy post...here are a couple of shots of Benjamin from this week. He gets funnier by the day; he is developing a totally goofy personality. I love that he realizes that when the camera comes out, he gets to act all silly!!
-peace out,

The other new addition(s) to our home: Sunday, March 04, 2007
We've been talking big-television for awhile. When we went to NY, my dad had gotten one, then a couple of weeks later, my mom and Ron got a new one...so, we rolled up the change from our "fun savings account" last Sunday morning and hit up our local Best Buy.
Also worth noticing...the Nintendo Wii. It was purchased as part of a compromise. Initially, Andrew wanted a 50 inch tv, but they were just TOO big for my taste, and it barely would have fit in the space above the fireplace designated for a television...so, with the money saved by purchasing the 42 incher, he got a Wii.
I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant about another video game system in the house; but I actually love this one! How could you NOT love it when you're a professional level bowler after a couple hours of throwing virtual strikes!?!?

Meet Fish Saturday, March 03, 2007
This is fish.
He's the latest addition to our family. Our friends are in the process of moving, and for some reason, Andrew told them we'd adopt their fish. Their 2 1/2 year old daughter named it "fish," so what kind of person would I be to change it now?
Anyhow, this is 100% Andrew's doing, therefore, 100% his responsibility. I was bragging, just the other day, about not having any pets.

Mom? A little help!?! Friday, March 02, 2007
As I was washing Benjamin's breakfast bowl this morning, I noticed that he wasn't laughing and playing in the next room...so I peek around the corner to find this:
I have NO clue how he unhooked the piece under the mat, but he did. And then he started laughing when I walked back in the room.
I absolutely LOVE having a rough & tumble little boy...he definitely keeps me on my toes!
