Things are good in the world. Monday, March 31, 2008
On our trip home from NY yesterday, I was surfing the internet on Andrew's iPhone, mainly looking up random things near our new home.
He suggested that I look for a Wegman's, since it was on the brain having been in Central NY...
I'll be darned, we have one .9 miles (less than 3 minutes) from the new house!!! As in, my new grocery store will be Wegman's (again).
As you can see, I am thrilled about this discovery. It doesn't take much. However, if you've ever shopped at Wegman's, then you know EXACTLY why I am excited.

Fun in Potsdam Saturday, March 29, 2008
Some shots of Benjamin enjoying the 20-something degree weather, patiently awaiting the arrival of his red and yellow swing for the old swing set in the yard.
He just stood there pointing until it arrived! He's been such a sweetie here in NY, and despite his horrible sleeping, has been having a blast.
And yes, those are grown-up gloves that are held on with rubber bands. We tried his gloves, a pair of his socks, and finally, had some success with rubber banded grown up mittens.

...Happy Freaking Easter.
There are FAR too few family photographs of the three of us, and this one reminded me why...it's hard to get the camera positioned (thus the lack of the top half of A's head), and Benjamin has NO clue where to look, and quite frankly, would rather be running around. I look red, and flustered from trying to get everyone into a shared 3 feet of space. Lovely.
We were mostly lazy yesterday, but decided to spiff up a little bit and head out for a not-so-traditional Easter dinner at PF Changs (I loathe ham, Andrew could take or leave it, and unless I figured out a way to make it look like a chicken nugget, had confidence Benjamin would have little interest, either).
The day felt a little lonely without friends or family, but we had a great time, nonetheless.
Now we're looking forward to our quickly upcoming NY trip, followed by some sunshine down in Florida! Woot!
On a totally unrelated note, I've been running for the past week and a half, and FEEL FANTASTIC. I even did a 7+ mile run yesterday, and have no knee pain at all!

Waiting Game Saturday, March 22, 2008
My absolute least favorite part about moving is that period of time when you know where you are going, but can't get there yet.
We're right in the middle of that; the actual settlement date is during the week of 4/21-25, likely the 25th.
But, it's too soon to order the components for our kitchen remodel (even though the appliances are an extra 10% off right now). It's too soon to pick up the paint for the house. It's really too soon to start signing up for Germboree, swimming, etc.
The waiting just stinks. I can't wait to move into the new house. CANNOT wait.

Hi, This is Erin from the Red Cross. Saturday, March 15, 2008
Erin from the Red Cross: Hi, This is Erin from the Red Cross. Is Andrew there?
Me: I'm sorry, he's not home right now, may I take a message for him?
EFTRC: Could you please let him know that he's due to give blood again.
Me: You mean he's ELIGIBLE to give blood again?
EFTRC: Yes, he's due to give blood again.
Me: Okay, I'll let him know.
This phone call really, really irked me; it's a donation. He's not DUE to give them anything.
I should include that Andrew has a recurring calendar appointment set up to remind him to give blood every six weeks; and he always does. He's a better citizen than I am.

Lovely weather, and dusting off the bikes! Friday, March 14, 2008
Last summer, Andrew and I got new bikes. We also got a great bike trailer. Only problem, Benjamin hated his helmet and screamed like a banshee whenever he was placed inside his chariot
So, A went on a few bike rides alone. I went on one or two. And then we hung the bikes from the ceiling of the garage for the winter.
Andrew snuck out of work a tad early this afternoon, and suggested that we go for a bike ride. It was nearly 70, the sun was shining; absolutely perfect for it. So, we dusted off the gear, and headed out.
Benjamin was saying "WEEEEE" and having a blast. We were out for just over an hour, and totally pooped when we got home. It was fantastic!
We're hoping the weather stays nice so we can sneak out again tomorrow morning!
Happy Friday! This week was a competitor for "longest week EVER" at our house.

Inspection fun! Tuesday, March 11, 2008
Yesterday, A, B & I spent the bulk of the day at the new house, walking around with our home inspector. He was awesome, totally thorough, and we were absolutely impressed with him. Our realtor has been great, so it's not any big surprise that she would have hired us a great inspector.
Anyhow, the house passed with flying colors, and there are only a handful of VERY minor things that we'll need to do. The biggest issue was that the dishwasher was old and not all that functional. It was in our 60-day kitchen remodel plan to yank it out of there and replace it, anyhow.
So, everything is moving forward. We pulled the inspection contingency out of the contract this afternoon, and the bank is setting up a time to do the appraisal.
Still no closing date, but as of right now, it's "on or before may 1st." It'll be before, for sure. The bank doesn't want to hold onto it any longer than they have to.
So, I'd love to write more, but I am off to spend the next couple of hours surfing my new favorite website.

Lovely Monday, March 10, 2008
In case I needed a reminder that I have a little boy, Benjamin just ran over to me, climbed up on the couch, gave me a hug, consciously burped in my face, laughed, said "blesh ooooh" and then ran across the room to kick his blocks around.

Zoo! Tuesday, March 04, 2008
We're having a bit of a heat wave here, which conveniently was timed to my mom and Em's visit. So, we went to the DC zoo today, of course!
Here is Benjamin last night, showing how excited he is to have his grandma and aunt here!
Some shots from the zoo today:
Sporting the monkey "backpack"
Over the monkey backpack
I think B, the monkey and I all are making the same face:
Not pleased about going into the stroller:
A hippo playing. Scary, scary teeth:
My favorite animal...the capybara:
Benjamin had a blast shoving berries, twigs, rocks and leaves into the sewer while we waited for mom and Em to leave the elephant/hippo house:
As always, a zoo-wrap-up-stop at the giant pizza:
That's about it from here. Tomorrow morning, we're headed to the new house to show it off to my mom, and see it in the sunlight (I know, I know). I promise there will be lots of pics when we get back!

More waiting, and lots of fun Monday, March 03, 2008
The weekend was torturously long, waiting to find out about the house, but luckily for us, we had some fun plans to look forward to!
On Sunday morning, Andrew and Benjamin got up at their early, normal time, but somehow managed to sneak out of the house without me even realizing! They went to Bob Evans for breakfast, where B managed to polish off ALL FIVE of the (small) pancakes on his plate.
We brought out some of the new painting supplies, and Benjamin finger painted for the first time ever. He had a blast, and it cleaned up surprisingly well!
After that, we got ready to head up to Mike and Holly's house. Pat, Fran & Greta had flown down for the weekend, and we were lucky enough to be invited up for a casual get-together.
Elise turned two last week, and Greta will be two on St. Patty's Day, so we did gifts, and pizza and cupcakes. It was a great afternoon, and Benjamin slept like a LOG last night.
Benjamin REALLY enjoyed his cupcake:
Thanks again for having us! We had a great time!
This morning, Benjamin and I took advantage of the warm temps (50s at the time) and played on the patio for awhile. He LOVES being outside, and we're really looking forward to spending time in our new backyard.
Oh, and YEP. That's right. Pending the home inspection, we're going to be living in this house in a couple of months.
It's the perfect house for us, and we're just so excited to be moving to Northern Virginia for Andrew's evolving role with his company. We will have LOTS of room for guests, so we expect visitors!!
Plus, we are definitely looking forward to settling down, as our new house will be the fourth home we've lived in since March of 2006 (not to mention, fourth state!).
We're patiently awaiting the arrival of my mom and sister, who are currently about mid-way through Pennsylvania and staying with us for a few days. Woot!
I think March is definitely going to be our month!

Waiting to find out if your offer has been accepted (over a VERY long weekend, mind you) stinks.
We are doing our best to make the time go by quickly.
