Benja's first trip to the zoo!
Saturday, April 28, 2007

It was low 70s and sunny here, so this morning we decided to hit up the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, which, in case you didn't know, is America's only Mountain Zoo. So, it's animals and stroller-friendly light hiking all in one.

Benjamin loves animals, in general, so we were happy that he seemed to have a pretty good time.

He was a big fan of the monkey cage. An even bigger fan of looking over the edge and seeing his dad!

I think we were all a little freaked out by a friendly giraffe who got a little too close for comfort here.

Benjamin's first merry-go-round ride. That's two bucks and five minutes we'll never get back.

And finally, I didn't realize how ugly hippos actually are. Benjamin, however, thought they were funny.

April snow is unfortunate.
Tuesday, April 24, 2007

A blizzard on April 24 should be against the law. The ONLY plus is that Andrew got to come home from work early, because the roads are too dangerous to make it worth waiting until 4 to send everyone home. Yuck.

Crawling
Monday, April 23, 2007

Well, today marks the day that Benjamin started crawling! He's been close for weeks, and has the backwards crawling thing down. I need to memorialize the story, since I don't have time to pull out the baby book tonight.

At 3:30, I realized I hadn't had any lunch, so I made english muffins with butter and brought them into the playroom to eat. I set the paper plate down on the floor, and Benjamin gave me a "for me?" look, and just crawled about five feet to get to them. He then pulled himself up on my leg, and sat down in my lap, ready to eat.

It was hilarious, and probably not that much of a shock that the child of Andrew and myself is motivated by food...lovely!

New wheels!
Sunday, April 22, 2007

Benjamin got his first car today. It's pretty noisy on the pavement outside, so I think it'll be a living-room only toy until he's not so scared of it.

A New Trick
Thursday, April 19, 2007

Benjamin's newest trick is to stand up and wait for us to get him from the crib. In the middle of the night, he usually just makes it to a sitting position, and we either have to re-place him on his back, or else he just keels over and eventually falls back to sleep.

Probably needless to say, we had to lower the crib this week:

Hey Mom I am up!

Here are the rarely-shown teeth that I mentioned a few weeks ago:

Okay, now that I look at it, the pic it is too small to see the teeth. Sorry.

Yum, Cookies!
Friday, April 13, 2007

Benjamin has moved up in the world of eating, and has incorporated the world's most messy cookies into his diet. I don't think they are actually cookies, but we call them that because hopefully he doesn't end up having a sweet tooth like me.

Have you seen my cookie?

Yum, Cookies

Yum, Cookies

These are only given about 10 minutes before a bath is scheduled...he'd love to have them daily, but anybody who has serverd one up before knows that is not an option!

Yum, Cookies

Just in: I liked cookies too. My mom just shared this picture from Mother's Day, 1980, with me.

New Hobby
Wednesday, April 11, 2007

I can't stop sewing. I got a sewing machine on Monday, and have made 5 blankets already.

I am not all that good, but am really enjoying myself.

It's been a rough few days. Need a blanket?

The Many Faces of Benjamin
Monday, April 09, 2007

I am only posting this, because I find it truly hilarious that one kid can show so many different emotions in less than 90 seconds.

Enjoy!

Dear Winter...you are over
Saturday, April 07, 2007

Disclaimer: I am REEEEEALY whiny today.

I am not up for this winter-bunk. It's 22 degrees outside, and everything has a decently thick layer of ice on it. Ice in April makes me grumpy. Benjamin and I miss our daily walks, and you've ruined my tulips.

Even the infamous mums managed to look worse than their dead state.

In other fun times, Benjamin is pulling himself up on things. We are in BIG trouble in the upcoming months; but loving every second of it!!

And we are sick again...
Friday, April 06, 2007

Just back from a pediatrician visit, and sure enough, the bean has yet another double ear-infection. He's still below the average for a 7 month baby, so unless he gets three more before Thanksgiving time, he's not a candidate for tubes. BUT, we will be starting the horrid, pink, amoxillin before bedtime tonight.

Poor Baby.

Oh, and it's freezing rain outside right now. BLEH.

Benjamin on Vacation
Tuesday, April 03, 2007

We had a really nice time in Arizona. It was great to enjoy some very hot weather, hang out around the pool, visit with family, and just to have a change of scenery for a few days.

Benjamin is turning into a big homebody. His sleeping was pretty bad while we were gone, although, he took really good, frequent naps. He loves having a schedule (albeit a loose one) and is already thriving by being back on it.

We got home around midnight last night, so I feel like a zombie, but am trying to get some work and laundry done today, so I can delve back into work-work tomorrow during naps. I totally skipped the gym this morning, but will make her work me twice as hard on Thursday and Friday to make up for a week of over-indulgence, and far too little movement...

Here are some pics of the bean on vacation. He LOVED the pool. I wasn't really surprised based on his love for the bath, but he was swimming (aka flailing arms and splashing) within a minute or two of being in there.
