     Happy 10 Months, Benjamin!
Saturday, June 30, 2007

We're too busy playing with friends, seeing the sights, and swimming in the pool to pull the pictures off of the camera right now, but Happy 10 Months, Benjamin!

You are changing SO much every day, and we just love you so incredibly much!

love,

mom

Friends!
Wednesday, June 27, 2007

Benjamin has a new friend! Jonathan is a couple of months younger, but equally as interested in getting into trouble as Benjamin. They also pull each other's hair, and display the ultimate determination in swiping whatever toy the other has.

However, the best part, Andrew and I love hanging out with his parents!

After NEVER feeling settled in Colorado, it's nice to already be "fitting in" here.

Courtney, defined.
Monday, June 25, 2007

This is kind of funny. I used my married last name, first, but it came back with something about nature (yeah, right) and a train-riding hobo. Luckily, I have the maiden name (which, technically, is still my legal name) to fall back on.

I mean, is there anybody out there who would prefer being a train-riding hobo over a muppet?

What is your definition? Do tell!

[noun]:

A real life muppet

Night Night Doggie Returns...
Saturday, June 23, 2007

These make me think of a little comic strip; maybe like Calvin & Hobbes, but not quite.

Anyhow, these were taken seconds (if that) apart a couple of afternoons ago. I love watching him play in the first minutes after he gets up from a nap! Usually I like to watch quietly until he realizes I am there, but watching him just stand there about to drop the dog, debating whether or not to do it was cause for a quick sprint to get the camera!

Hey Mom!

Night Night Doggie

I am just hanging out here. Nothing to see.

Night Night Doggie

Ooops. I dropped NND.

Night Night Doggie

Night Night Doggie

How did that happen?

Night Night Doggie

Night Night Doggie

Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Night Night Doggie

Wait a minute...

Night Night Doggie

Well, crud.

Night Night Doggie

Mom, a little help?

Dear Benjamin,
Monday, June 18, 2007

Dear Benjamin,

I promise, if you're on a neighborhood swim team later in your life, that I will not go to your practice in a string bikini, planning to sunbathe at 7:30 am.

Love,

Your Mom

Happy Father's Day!
Sunday, June 17, 2007

We had a really nice, relatively low-key day, including sleeping in until 6:30 (!!!), breakfast at a new, randomly delicious diner that used to be a Chinese restaurant, a trip to the mall, lots of pool splashing time, and a couple of new toys. We all had a blast!

Happy Father's Day!

I love spaghetti!

Happy Father's Day!

I mean, REALLY love spaghetti!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

Benjamin was having so much fun, and didn't want to go to bed. Here he is, crawling toward the stairs when he realized that he'd been up for FAR too long!

Happy Father's Day!

A big, huge Happy 1st FD to Andrew, who is such a fantastic father. We have lots of new (or pretty new) father-friends in our lives, and we hope that their special day was just as great!

Great News!
Saturday, June 16, 2007

Screen doors only cost $36. And we had a 10% off coupon for Home Depot.

Update: It was too tall for the door (Andrew even double-checked and they still sent us off with the wrong one) but we discovered that the original door isn't quite as broken as we'd initially thought.

These shoes were made for walking
Friday, June 15, 2007

walking shoes

Benjamin took his first 2 (unassisted) steps this morning. He has NO balance, so I don't know that he'll be walking in the near future, but we were at the playground bright and early this morning, playing in the bark, and terrorizing the neighborhood cats. Benjamin pulled up on my shoulders, as if he were going to give me a hug, but instead bit my shoulder. It still burns, 2.5 hours later. Anyhow, I screamed like a schoolgirl, and he turned around, and took two steps, before plummeting down to the ground.

It was ugly, but it happened.

TGIF.

Playdate!
Thursday, June 14, 2007

Holly and Elise came over late this morning. Elise showed Benjamin some of the tricks of being a toddler, he followed her around like a lost puppy, and she, like any girl dealing with a younger man, wouldn't have given him the time of day if he begged. Fun was had by all, and I am so glad to have them so close by!

Here's one of the few shots of them playing.

Benjamin and Elise

Night night doggie left the crib and played downstairs with us yesterday. Last night, he took his first swim in the washing machine. He was a new dog this morning. Ironically enough, Benjamin had his WORST night of sleep (or not sleep) in over 2 months. Let's hope NND's presence in the crib tonight will solve that little problem.

BHL <3 NND

Not the most flattering picture, but you can see those big, top chompers that Benjamin uses as weapons these days.

Say CHEESE

Handsome devil.

Handsome boy!

My funny story of the day: I was waiting for Holly to arrive this morning, and thought I heard a car pull in the driveway. I had the big door onto the patio open, and the screen door closed. I didn't see the screen door and walked RIGHT THROUGH IT. It popped off the tracking, but I was relatively unscathed. The door, however, not so much. Add Home Depot to the shopping list for this weekend...I felt like such an idiot, and just looked around praying that nobody saw what had just happened. Benjamin just sat on the kitchen floor, slightly dumbfounded, until he burst into belly-laughs. What a scene!

A lot to look forward to!
Thursday, June 14, 2007

Just a quick note, as I am getting the house ready to host Holly and Elise over for the afternoon, but I am just feeling really happy about all the great things that we have going on in the upcoming days, weeks, and months.

Briefly:

  • Our visitors today
  • Tera being in town for a few days next week
  • A quickly approaching girls (and Benjamin) weekend in Potsdam to celebrate Leah and her quickly approaching wedding
  • A BBQ in NY at Mel and Erik's new place, which means I get to see the entire Rochacha crew for the first time in FAR too long, and introduce them all to Benjamin (and in some cases, Andrew). It also will be the first time that I will meet Greta.
  • Leah's wedding in VT
  • I am sure there are tons more, too!
Have a great day...I am sure there will be pictures of the tots to post later!

A New Domain Name
Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Hi. Andrew here, I know I've not actually posted yet, and it's kinda uncool for my first post to be one about security and spam-bots, but I am the webmaster, after all, and it falls on me to secure this site as needed.

Courtney and I have been talking about implementing some security on this blog for a while, and we've decided to start with not displaying our last names for the world to see. You might notice that the web page is now located at http://www.andrewandcourtney.com/

We're also planning on adding some sort of captcha to stop the evil spam-bots from comment-spamming our site. It's not been a huge bother so far, as they've only been hitting our very old posts, but it irks me, and I want it to stop.

Blah update
Friday, June 08, 2007

  • The movers didn't end up scheduling us, so they are not coming today, or likely for a few days.
  • Not blah: The gate arrived today, although, it's not as good as I was expecting.
  • Benjamin took NO naps today.
  • Also not blah: Andrew had a great day at work; I am SO happy about that!
  • I am really out of shape...after only 3 weeks of not working out.
  • The space bar on my computer is not cooperating, and I have to go back and edit everything I type.
Fingers crossed for rest this weekend!

Rough Week
Thursday, June 07, 2007

This has been a relatively long week, filled with lots of annoying and stupid things.

I accidentally sent a package to the Colorado house, and it's currently lost somewhere between here and there. UPS has no clue, Amazon has no clue, and I certainly don't have a clue. UPS won't start a search for it until Amazon initiates; Amazon doesn't initiate those because their "call centers are located in regions that don't allow for timely phone calls." Read: Our call centers are in India. They are very helpful, though.

So, I cannot complain about that, because they are just sending me a new baby gate. I was worried it was $80 down the drain, but I just send the initial package back if we get it, or let them know if we want to keep/pay for when it comes. I was thoroughly impressed by that!

Benjamin had his first accident last night. He was standing, leaning against the banister and just bit it. He cut his left eyelid, and got an instant bruise on his cheekbone. Andrew and I have revoked our applications for Parent of the Week. We will resubmit again in the future. Benjamin, despite the shiner, appears to be unscathed by the incident, and life, as we know it, is fine.

We're still unpacking things; although, mostly done. The moving company is coming tomorrow to take away the boxes and the packing paper. I think that'll be the catalyst to get a bunch more done, since those darn things are in our way.

Andrew starts his new job tomorrow. He seems anxious and excited. We've grown quite accustomed to having him around. Both Benjamin and I are creatures of habit and routine, though, so we're looking forward to going back to normal life.

My gym hiatus HAS to end. I was doing so well, and have been a fast-food-eating, beer drinking fool the past couple of weeks. Nasty.

Sorry no pictures. Hope your week isn't as blah as ours has been!

Happy 9 Months, Benjamin
Friday, June 01, 2007

Yesterday Benjamin hit the 9 month point in life. We're up in NY right now, so I don't have any pictures to post, but he's remained busy this month with creeping, crawling, standing, cruising, eating, sleeping (still better), and proving to be the most darling child, remaining more mellow than his mother during a cross-country move. I am beyond impressed with how amazing he is, and how much he changes each day!
