A zoolander on our hands? Tuesday, August 25, 2009
Benjamin just put on lip gloss from my purse and said "Where's your camera? I am ready for my close-up!"
His one-liners are killing me lately!

You should do some real excercise Wednesday, August 12, 2009
We were at the gym this morning. Benjamin had an accident in the kid's club. The girls came to get me so I could change him and get him calmed down (he gets very upset) and afterward, he wasn't really in the mood to go back to playing because he was really embarrassed.
I tried for a couple of minutes, but to no avail.
I had to pop back into the cycling class to get my water bottle and towel, so he was waiting outside of the door, watching the people in the weight room.
He decides to tell them all that they look funny, and should do some real exercise. Like biking.
One old lady passed along a look of death (but it could be related to the hip abductor exercises she was doing,) but the man doing reverse squat things agreed with Benjamin, that he looked pretty silly. Which of course sent Benjamin into a fit of giggles.
It was HILARIOUS.
Speaking of Benjamin, his sleep has been C-R-A-P lately. It's 9:04 PM, and he's still trying to settle down in his bed. He was so tired, that he used his head to help get him up the stairs, but he just won't relax.
His excuse? I have to go potty. Over and over and over again.
I really hope, for his sake, that he doesn't inherit my horrid, debilitating, insomnia. That would be totally uncool.

It's not for me... Tuesday, August 11, 2009
Benjamin just woke up from his nap. I happened to be downstairs on the treadmill clocking a few miles.
Normally I close the upstairs gate, but apparently forgot today.
When I came upstairs, Benjamin was on his way downstairs yelling "WHERE ARRRRRRE YOU, MOMMY?"
He then went on to tell me that he was happy, and had a good nap, but was turning on the television to watch a show while he wakes up.
Fine.
Sesame Street was on.
My oh-so-cool-nearly-3-year-old says "Mommy. Sesame Street is not cool. It's not for me."
Well then, there you have it.

Will eat for money... Saturday, August 08, 2009
Benjamin, much like his mother, seems to be easily motivated by money. In fact, I am negotiating dinner consumption right now, by allowing him to pick coins from a jar, for his bank, for each bite he takes.
I've never had a $4 banana before, but it sure tastes good to Benjamin...
So, he pulled out a quarter and says:
This looks like you, daddy!
(showing him the coin)
A: Court, you need to see what looks like me.
Me: Does the bull with the horns, or the man with the 'fro look like daddy?
B: The man with the fro, mommy! NOT the bull!
Another wild night, chez us...

Long Week Friday, August 07, 2009
Not sure what happened, but this week just flew by, but was super long at the same time. How does that work?
I celebrated my 30th with some friends (what happens in Reston Town Center, stays in Reston Town Center, right?), and Benjamin and Andrew have both been sick.
Poor B is so sick, that he and I were up for much of the night last night, attempting to bring his fever down. We ended up at the pediatrician's office today, since the cough had worsened, and he was absolutely miserable. A Z-pack (well, the liquid version) for B is on our agenda for the next few days.
Other than that, nothing worth talking about has happened. I am behind on my running mileage, and don't see myself catching up this weekend.

Hamburger Helper? Monday, August 03, 2009
Me: He just smells sick.
A: He smells like hamburger helper.
Me: Ewww.
B: What's ewww, mommy?
Me (to A): I am not sure I've ever eaten hamburger helper.
Me (to B): Daddy said something that made mommy think "ewww."
A: I don't know that I've had hamburger helper, either.
Me: Then how do you know what it smells like?
A: My imagination, I guess?
B: Why is it ewww?
I guess, realizing how less funny it is if you weren't there for the bizarreness of this conversation, this is a pretty dumb post.
But, it cracked me up, and after the day we've had (think summer cold #2 for both Andrew and Benjamin), I'll take what I can get.

Benjamin will be three in four short weeks! How on EARTH did that happen so quickly?
